I never was able to get there either, but I'm pretty sure the New York Hardcore scene wouldn't be what it is today without CBGBs.
ReplyDeleteGotta agree with you on that point but I think it's influence was even bigger than that...Roadside
ReplyDeleteCBGB`s rocked has hard as it looked. I was lucky enough to see the Ramones and the Runaways!! As they rocked out my 17 year brain, my aunt was a cop...she got me into the joint!! Oh yeah that was in 1977. God, youth so well misspent!!
ReplyDeleteHoly fuck!! Your aunt sounds cool as hell!! BTW I still want to bang Lita Ford!!!
ReplyDeletegreat shot and great memories...CB's was a club that treated my old really well...the sound system was one of the best, and if you brought in a reel of 2" tape and threw the soundman a hundred he taped your show, I still have some CD's left from 1993. Now the NYC music scene is the equivelant of going to the mall. Safe, clean, quiet, b-o-r-i-n-g!
ReplyDeletegreat page!
Patrick, THANK YOU for the kind words as well as that little unknown bit..I wish I could have at least made it there once!!!
