Goin' down the crossroads!
This kid Zeb (real name) got me to do a portrait of Robert Johnson on him the other day. I'm not the biggest fan of doing portraits but I couldn't resist this one!..........Alvarez

Living Legends at Sturgis 2010

I was HONORED to have these guys check out the Chick Magnet as well as allow me to snap a pic of them on it..each one told me what an awesome bike they thought it was and I can't even begin to express how much their words meant to me, I mean it's great when people dig what I build but when you have guys like this saying it, well let's just say it put a lump in my throat and for once I really felt humbled and proud..THANKS for the time! Catholic Discipline!
The X footage from Decline of Western Civilization I posted a while back got me thinking about this band. The soundtrack to this film was one of my first punk rock music purchases. I had heard of almost every other band on it ,but not these guys. I fucking loved this song and all the great sound bites of French ex-patriate frontman Claude (Kickboy Face) Bessy tearing everyone from new wavers to his own fans a new one! Claude co-founded Slash magazine/records which was probably the first west coast punk rag/label and was responsible for recording and releasing the debuts of bands like X, Fear, The Germs and many other greats from that era.Unfortunately he never got around to getting his own band in the studio so we are only left with this track from the movie and a few live bootlegs.A shame because they were a spectacular document of the early California punk scene when originality and experimentation was encouraged and before "hardcore" came in and regimented everything to the same look and sound. Claude moved to England in the early eighties (apparently despondent over the election of Reagan) where he worked for the infamous Factory records in Manchester before relocating to Barcelona where he died of lung cancer in1999.

I still love this bike!
Mitch Allread's 60/66 Pan/Shovel from December 200 IronWorks! This bike rules! Perfect lines all around. Check the way the exhaust follows the frame down and all the speed holes. Somehow they're everywhere but not over done. Balance, perfection!

They're coming to get you!
Oh shit! I just found this picture in my filing cabinet. This is an outtake from a cover shoot for the never to materialize "Jeff Clayton and the Braineaters" E.P. Way back in the early nineties I was living in Charlotte, NC and playing drums for a band called the Furys.(that's me on the right) That's Furys guitarist Suave Robbie(pronounced swahvay rahbay) on the left. Anyway , we came up with the idea to do a project with Jeff from Antiseen(pictured center) that was gonna be a halloween release 7" feauring a song Robbie wrote based on the Nazi submariner zombie classic film "Shockwaves"(hence the outfits) and a cover of Skulls by the Misfits on the B side. It was gonna be all limited edish colored vinyl collector like with a Lindsay Kuhn silk screened cover. Jeff's wife at the time,Dee, took the photos. I remember standing in their front yard that evening on Central ave(a rather busy four lane street) dressed like Nazis, soaking ourselves with the garden hose(for that underwater zombie effect)with people driving by with a definite "What the fuck?" look on their faces. Priceless! I guess it was a couple days after the photo shoot and Jeff and Robbie got into an argument at the record store they worked at or something like that and the whole project got scrapped. Youth wasted on the young!......Alvarez

It's in the DNA!

My uncle was the major influence on me as a kid as far as hot rods and bikes was concerned. He taught me a lot about working on mechanical things and also about something he called "bo-legged women." He went through tons of rides from A-bones and Deuces to Willy's and even a Hemi or Camaro here and there. Sadly this is the only remaining photo of any of his rides. Gary is still kicking. His current rides include a '27 T roadster, '51 F-1 gasser pickup and a 400 Pontiac powered hot-boat. Gearhead for life!......Alvarez
