Ladies and gentlemen may I introduce Mr. Kyle Tracy to our loyal blog followers..he's been a close brother of mine for a few years now and has helped your reporter out of more than one predicament (go figure) with a good laugh and a whole lotta knowledge! He's been building a Twin Cam chopper for awhile now and he will tell you straight up that he can't wait to put it in the Chopper Time show at Willie's, I've included a pic of Kyle with the abnormality he gets when he goes out in his shop (cold beer) and a shot of just one of the trick set ups he made for this chop..yeah, it's an H-D rear master cylinder and pedal flipped over to run a hydraulic foot clutch, just think about that one for a bit and realize how much work that took!!!! He's a devoted husband and father and U.S.M.C. veteran who works hard and is one helluva standup guy..can't wait to lay down some miles beside you on that thing brother!!!!!!!

Well tonight Scott put the final piece on my back and I couldn't be happier with the result!!! He free hand drew the design on there and asked if I wanted to take a look and I said fuck it brother it's not like I'm gonna be able to see it anyway LOL!! D.A.C. played my hometown of Pensacola FL on Jan 7th and thru some fast phone calls and a whole lotta luck I was able to score a short interview with him and his son Tyler for Cycle Source! The interview will be out in the next issue of CS and I hope people dig it, it wasn't as easy to come up with questions as you think it would be and to be quite honest I was a bit star struck and nervous talking with the man..I mean he's a living legend in my book and I shouldn't have worried because after the second question he visibly relaxed and opened up about alot of things, musical,personal,professional as well as motorcycle related and it was a true pleasure talking with the man..I can't thank Chris Callen,Steve Pentland and Bruce Smith enough for all of their help in making this happen, it's a memory that I will never forget!!! Well after Biketoberfest I decided that since I was gonna keep this bike I might as well show her a lil TLC so Papa got a brand new bag..of parts that is..complete new charging system,rubber mount front kit complete, new top link,new front and rear sprockets and rear chain,new stainless steel rocker box oil lines,new rocker shaft end plugs,new coil and plug wires,new grips,new battery and battery cables,new sphereical swingarm bearings,new rear wheel bearings,rebuilt front end,new rear ss brake line and a new derby cover..fuck I think that's all..but I think it's time for at least a fresh top end (rings,pistons and a valve job) because she sure does suck down some black gold but I'm totally happy with her for now believe it or not!! After all these YEARS, one of my bikes made it on the cover of The Horse!! That's been a dream of mine ever since the mid 80's back when I first started building my first H-D (my Sporty that I posted awhile back) when Chris Pfouts was Editor and David Snow was the Assistant Editor..man I fucking read and looked over those mags till the pages fell out, I couldn't get enough!!! For those of you who were fortunate enough to read some of Chris Pfouts editorials as well as the trials and tribulations with his Indian project and then thru the Snow era, those were some of the greatest articles written which in my opinion really kinda set the stage for the way things are now. I still read each issue front to back in one sitting but now I see alot of my brothers in there as well which really makes me feel good but those issues with Indian Larry (RIP) Paul Cox,English Don,Steg Von Heintz,Flynch and Fritz had an impact on me that still influences everything that I build to this day..personally I can't think of a better bike than my Knuckle for The Horse and I'm truly humbled that it's on there..like I said..a dream come true!!! Faith Forgotten Choppers!!

While I was on my way to Detroit Rock City over the holiday weekend I was lucky enough to be able to swing by and see a great brother of mine in Louisville KY Big Will Ramsey of Faith Forgotten Choppers who was gracious enough along with Miss Cajun (his Pit) to give this southern boy some Thanksgiving cheer while I was so far from home along with some mighty fine pecan pie!! 33 mm front end DONE!!!!!!

Well I FINALLY got the 33 mm front end on the Knuckle after some monumental pain in the ass obstacles and I must say after riding it and seeing how it looks with the 2" under tubes on there I'm totally happy with the way it turned out!!! As usual I had some help from brothers that I'm fortunate to have tolerate me..Tim Andig from Papa Clutch Customs hooked me up with the 2" under tubes when I couldn't get them from anyplace else (DO NOT tell me about Forking by Frank!!!) Steve "LiL Chopper" McDonald and Jake for putting that 1" stem in the bottom tree for me,Dan Kramer for welding the fork stop on at ten pm when he had to be at work the next morning by 5am and of course my Dad Shelton for giving me the lower tree and giving me pointers and advice on rebuilding this front end..now it's time to ride this muthafucka!!! Cracked inner primary due to operator ignorance, rewelded by Louie in Daytona Beach who did an incredible job!!

I got back late Sunday night and I still don't feel like typing alot of shit but after getting the "Cracked Whore" back together correctly (THANK YOU Steve Broyles,Marcus,Louie,Shawn,Jeremy,LiL Chopper,Shadetree Kyle and the TX crew and of course Willie for all of your unselfish help getting me back on the road) I put 883 total miles on her in 5 days and for only putting about 250 shakedown miles on her before I left, I couldn't be happier with her performance..I'm gonna give her a lil bit of TLC in the next week or so and then just ride the hell out of her!! I can't thank Big Josh enough for shooting a coat of black over those FXRT bags the night before I left out because the red paint on them was absolutely hideous..THANK YOU BROTHER..enjoy these for now..Roadside

Well the 82 FXR is just about ready to hit the streets as well as carry my sorry ass to Biketoberfest in a few days and I can't help but get excited because the closer I get to being on the road the more short tempered I get so my apologies to anyone if I've offended your sensitive fuckin feelings!! I got the custom Thunderheader that Big Paul from Bare Knuckle Choppers made for me on there the other night and I have to say it's THE BEST fitting Shovelhead exhaust system that I have ever used and that sound is fuckin unreal! Thanks again Paul for EVERYTHING that you've done for me brother!! I still need to put a rear bracket on the pipe and I have to put the FXRT saddlebags on there but for the most part she's done, the short laps around the side streets by the shop have got me antsy to get it out on the highway to see how she really feels so stay tuned for a full report after this weekend!!! I guess I'm a really lucky guy to live here in Florida where you can ride pretty much year round, now don't get me wrong I bitch about the heat and the bugs and the low paying jobs that are pretty standard around here but since I am a native I feel I can do that but for the most part you have days like Sunday when you just spend the whole day riding around on your bike enjoying the scenery and the brotherhood and friendship when you happen to stop..me,Big Josh,Killer(Becky) and Melissa did just that this past Sunday and I'm still smiling!! We had an awesome lunch at Paradise Bar and Inn on the beach and then a great ride along the coast down to a great biker bar called The Outpost..the only problem was it was Sunday and the day was over way too fast!!!! This year in Sturgis at the Jeff Decker exhibit I was fortunate to see one of my all time favorite bikes ever..the Black Tibetan by Jason Jessee! The first time I ever saw this bike was in an Iron Horse issue from I believe 94 or 95 and I was just blown the fuck away but seeing it in person was just incredible..these pics just don't do the bike any justice. While I was at the Jeff Decker exhibit this year I the pleasure of meeting Ms. Gloria Struck for the first time, she was walking around with Matt Olsen and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time for an introduction and right off the bat I fell in love with this incredible lady!! The first words out of her mouth to me after our introduction from Matt were.."Did you ride to Sturgis or did you trailer your bike?" When I answered that I had ridden up from Florida she smiled that beautiful smile that grabbed my heart and said "That's great to hear, now I can keep talking with you otherwise I would have to move on even though your a handsome young man!" How cool is that??? Gloria RODE her Softail from Jersey to Sturgis, she is 86 years young and has been riding for 60 years!!! I can't really explain how awesome it was to meet her!!! The other beautiful lady that I managed to trick into a photo with me needs no introduction..Athena Ransom from Vagabond Choppers who is a Motor Maid herself! I have been friends with Athena and her husband Don for quite awhile now and I'm fortunate to have them in my life, I look forward to seeing and hanging out with them every chance I can! Ryan's Indian!!!

I've known Ryan for a few years now and one thing about this brother is that he has one of the coolest Indian Chief's that I've ever seen!!! This bike has always looked somewhat familiar to me but I could never quite put my finger on it until me and Ryan were just standing around talking about bikes in general when he told me that he had bought this bike from a company that bought movie props after the films were done and that this bike was the one ridden by Comanche (Eric Balfour) in the movie Hell Ride!!! Well FUCK ME!!! That's the reason this bike looked so damn familiar, after that revelation I told Ryan that I HAD TO RIDE IT and he just laughed and said "No problem Roadside" like it was no big deal to him!! It was a bitch trying to get the pattern down of the throttle on the left with the advance on the right and the rocker clutch releasing the opposite of how a Harley one works but it was still a fuckin hoot to ride! I can't thank Ryan enough for letting me take this bike for a spin and for just being a righteous brother on top of it all!!!

Absolute perfection and beauty!!!

Whenever I'm in Sturgis I always seem to have a full schedule of things,people or places that I either need to be at or should be at but I have to say one of the highlights of any of my Sturgis trips is on Thursday when the Sons of Silence MC have their annual bike games at their campground, Sons of Silence Boar has been a good friend for a few years and has invited me to come out everytime that I'm in Sturgis and this year I brought Milwaukee Mike with me and he enjoyed himself almost as much as I did! It's kind of a running joke between Boar and myself that everytime we talk I always hit him up to help me find rare chopper parts from back when that stuff was new, well this year he told that he wanted to introduce me to Sons of Silence Evan who had a Dick Allen springer that I might like to take a look at..well that was an understatement because after our introductions Evan was gracious enough to show me and Mike the frame that Oil in LA. made for this unbelievable springer as well as telling us what he had in mind for the whole build..Boar,who happened to know Dick Allen personally by the way, verified that this was a real Dick Allen built springer from when he used stock H-D springers before he started to use Chrom moly tubing for his later creations which only made me want the damn thing even more!! I just had to share these pics with everyone because I have never seen anything like that in person..by the way Evan has said as soon as he starts mocking things up he may give us a few sneak peeks at it or he may torture us and wait till the whole thing is finished before he shares it with us..either way I can't wait to see it done!!!! Remember when I said you meet some of the coolest people out on the road? Let me introduce you to Asian Dan and Colorado Mick who both happen to be out of you guessed it..Colorado!! I saw these two cats livin the dream and takin in the scene more than once around Sturgis and the outlying areas while I was there and I was fortunate to be able to chew the fat with them for a bit and they were about as real as it gets, these guy's reassured me that there are still young guy's out there that dig motorcycles and the people that ride them!! Instead of trying to impress people with other things these guy's just set an example by being themselves and I'm damn glad I got to meet them both!!!

They even had a great sense of humor when I told that if they wanted to really know what it was like at one time in the world of motorcycling they had to get against the wall and act like they were getting hassled by the Man, for some reason I got the feeling that maybe they had done that before LOL!!!

At The Horse Backstreet Choppers show me and Sara Liberte were filming some Rally TV spots and Wes and Darren were busy having a blast making fun of us and whoever we happened to be interviewing at that moment whether it was Wes doing Ninja rolls in front of the camera or Darren making faces at me while I was trying to talk these two fuckers had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes!!!!

In the bike parking section for the Jeff Decker show at the Chip we happened to see this "thing" dazzling in the beautiful South Dakota sunset and we were all taken aback by it's beauty (sheer stupidity) so much that Wes had to have his pic taken with it so it could be recorded for historical purposes, note Wes also has his face painted in true Death Metal style so that he may be successful in his quest that evening to permanately scar the minds of all who came to see Poison that night at the Chip,viewers of this blog maybe scarred because of Darren's ass being proudly shown behind Wes and this masterpiece of shit!! Wes was kind enough to wear a Slayer t-shirt to give the unsuspecting show goers a little bit of a heads up..who ever said the guy didn't have feelings???

This photo makes me sad because this is the moment Wes left us at the chip with wannabe cop security personnel, Street Glides with enough neon to draw a UFO and the douchebags that were riding them as well as the rest of the dipshits that seemed to be in abundance at that place! Wes is a true brother who "get's it" and is always good for a laugh or just great conversation, his take on numerous issues make you think,wonder,laugh or even question your view or opinion on whatever you may be discussing with him. He's also responsible for saying my absolute favorite quote of Sturgis this year when after a wild night of drunken mini bike tricks as well as campfire shenanigans we ran out of palletts for the burn barrell and Wes loudly states.."Let's burn the shitters, nobody can stand the stink of the fucking things and they won't service them so let's do it!!!" I busted a gut hearing that and I could just see all of us recreating the riot of the Sturgis City Park in 1980 when the bikers set fire to the shitters, Chris Callen would've probably had a heart attack right there on the spot LOL!!!! Papa Tim himself on his latest acquisition..a nice Pan/Shovel that runs like a swiss watch, can't wait to see what he does with it!

Hands down one of the coolest brothers that I have ever had the honor of getting to know, Darren from Slingin Ink Tattoos! He rode down for the party with his Dad(who is one smooth operator himself by the way) and as I was getting on the Interstate from the casino they were both coming down and we met right as I was merging into traffic totally by chance!! Afterwards we both had a great laugh about it and said it had to be fate as well as a good sign that this Sturgis was gonna be one of epic proportions and it certainly was!!!

It's amazing to me how just one word can trigger so many emotions and flash so many memories back in a second's time but that's exactly what happens when I hear or even think of Sturgis and this year was no different! Normally it takes me about 2 and a half days to get there and about the same to get home but this time it took me 5!!!! days to get there and that was just the beginning..I've said it before but it's so true, I seem to meet more and more people everywhere I go..either they have seen my pic and or stickers or read something I may have written or said or we may know some mutual people regardless of how it happens I enjoy this part of any journey alot, that old saying of it's the journey not the destination is so true..it's not some Hollywood line of bullshit, you just have to get out there on the road and experience it for yourself!! You meet so many people out there that it's never boring or dull..yeah you might run into some dickheads but hey let's face it they are EVERYWHERE so don't let that hold you back from living your life..I have so many pics that I will be posting as well as sharing some stories that may not be suitable for young viewers (LOL) so stay tuned and let me know what you think! When I first met Justin aka Pockets he was working at SPS in Phoenix and was one of those guy's who after talking to for just a few minutes you just knew was TOTALLY into all things motorcycle whether it was a punched out FXDX Twinkie or a sixties style Pan so instantly I liked this young cat but it was when we started talking about his dream bike I knew his head was definitely in the right place..a stripped down FXRT with a 2 into 1 is my kinda dream bike as well!! 8 inch Z Bars from brother Jeremy..these were on for a test fit so I haven't had a chance yet to shorten the cables, after puttin some miles on them I think I'm gonna leave them on there..any comments,insults or otherwise I wanna hear them people!!!!!

Everytime I look at this bike I love it more and more..Knuckleheads have a way of making you crazy while still maintaing somewhat of a normal outside appearance to most people! Other than shortening the cables and installing a kickass custom side saddlebag from Curt Green of the ECBM (pics soon to come) and installing a steel breather gear to cure the excessive chain oiling..she's done!! I have always dug the look of the original Roth snoot but they are pretty hard to find at times and while there was nothing wrong with that bitchin CCE bird deflector I just wanted a little bit more covering the carb so I started to ask around about a Roth and after the second text message Teach sends me a pic and asks is this what your looking for?? I told him that was EXACTLY what I was looking for and he said it's not a Roth but it's just as badass so give me your address because I'm boxing it up right now..I just gotta ask..HOW FUCKIN COOL IS THAT?????? Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending some time with Jeremy and his beautiful wife Nicole while they were down here on the Redneck Riviera visiting family, we had a great lunch at Jerry's Drive-In and then we went by the shop and met up with my Dad who told us some great stories and jokes, the one man hurricane known as Muttin cycles was blown away to say the least and I almost had to pat him down to make sure he didn't get started on his Knuckle project early LOL!!! I don't know who had a better time..Jeremy running around the shop with my Dad and on his own exploring around or me and my Dad and Nicole just watching and listening to him keep saying how cool the shop was and how much he was glad they came by LOL!! Take notice even with my shitty photography skills the amount of sweat on us , you just gotta love that Florida humidity..it was one of the best afternoons I've had in a long time, Jeremy and Nicole you two are welcome ANYTIME..ya'll are family!!! Customs on some back road in either North or South Carolina while we were in route to the Smokeout this year and when I saw it I cracked a smile a mile wide because this pic made me once again realize how lucky Iam to have the friends, brothers and family that I have and the point that I'm at right now in my life, all of the bullshit hassles of everyday life that can drag you down and keep you there..money, relationships, work, family, "friends", health and don't forget the "party favors" as well, they can all make a combination that if your not careful or alert will put you down and out if not for awhile then for good!! Yeah..it's what you think it is..a Hurst shifter arm being used as a brake anchor arm..I know, it was a first for me too LOL!!!!

I still can't figure out why this brake line goes UP the downtube and over the heads back down to the caliper???? Sharp eyed vultures will take note of early Panhead frame being used as a very good starting point but I guess the "party favors" took over after that because the rest of the bike is FUCKED to say the least!!! As a true motorcycle enthusiast I could not in good faith watch that frame being subjected to such atrocities so I rescued it from it's life of Hell, it's the least I could do..I know, I know I'm just too kind for this cruel world..Roadside Marty

A CHROME PLATED M35 LINKERT!!!!!!!!! My Dad found this baby in his stash and has no idea who or where it came from or who may have had it chromed, either way I don't give a fuck..this thing just plain kicks ass and shows class!!!!

I'm gonna polish a float bowl and use a nickel plated fuel filter that Josh Mills gave me a few years ago that should be an awesome combo for it and it might not be too shabby in the looks department! The only thing I'm dreading is dialing that fucker in because I really hate to change something on a motorcycle especially when it's running like a swiss watch!!!

New air filter element and brake pedal installed for good..note the stainless steel carb support bracket I whipped up to keep that baby solid, I know some people like the backing plate to the bottom of the front rocker box but I don't ever seem to have any luck with that mounting point so I kinda stick with what I know will work..

Primary side finished!!! I know it doesn't look like much but what you see in this pic was ALOT OF FUCKIN WORK!!!!! First finding the correct parts, once again THANKS to Rickey Lewis (Rick's Cycle Parts), then the damn hole in the inner primary had to be filed out a bit for the shifter shaft tube to fit thru as well as the inspection cover plate hole on top of all the cleaning I had to do just to be able to work on the damn thing!!! Some people say I take too long on certain things but I believe attention to even the smallest details pays off in the long run or out on the road. I would rather do all of this stuff right the first time instead of doing it multiple times..fuck am I sounding like an adult or what??? BTW I absolutely LOVE my Knucklehead!!! Roadside Marty

Well the 82 is in the process of getting mid controls (like all Fixxers are supposed to have, right J-Rod LOL) and to be quite honest it's been a pain in the ass!!! First off I don't think the damn thing was EVER serviced by any of it's previous "owners" and second finding the correct parts for early R's are a real fuckin bitch let me tell you!!! I can't thank Rickey Lewis of Rick's Cycle Parts enough for all of his help with parts and knowledge and his kindness in getting me the parts I needed ASAP!!! I called Rickey up and asked if he had what I was looking for and while in the middle of getting ready for the Smokeout he gathered them up and shipped them to me, I know he would laugh at me but Rickey is the kind of guy that makes you wish there were more people like him out there!! If you need a part give him a call he just might have what you need and that DAC ringtone is kinda cool too!! His son Michael is just as good and was the winner of this year's Chop Off at the SO so tell him congrats when you see him!!!!

So yesterday I get a call from a brother who has requested anonymity about this deal and he said I know you like these fuckin FXR's so come look at this 82 Shovel and make it quick, so I said well how much are we talking about and he said just get your ass over here now!!! So needless to say I'm now the proud caretaker of first year FXR that needs a little TLC but she's all there running with clean paper so what more could you ask for??? I was gonna move her because I've got alot of irons in the fire but for some reason I keep thinking about all the early FXR parts I have that I can put on there and different ideas about how I want her to look so I think she's found a permanent home for now!!! And Ed now we're even LOL!!!!

Got the front end on for good last night along with the front brake cable and throttle cable, still got to make a bracket for the cable to fasten to the lever but no worries there just need to do it!!

Mounted the P-Pad as well and the oil lines are on for good now, tonight more wiring and putting on the inner primary and belt drive!!!

I made new friends in Heyltje Rose and her fella Lock Baker. Two extremely nice and talented individuals. I tattooed a crawfish on Heyltje and feathers on Ashley , Cole and Autumn but only got a pic of the crawfish because the Travel channel was filming for two of the tattoos and I didn't have my camera on me when I did Autumn's. I did have the honor of putting a couple of small tattoos on Willie himself but he got out of the chair too fast for me to get any photos. Sorry I don't have any pics posted but my camera was lost for good the second time, the first time it dropped out of my saddlebag at the Limnickie Lot and was a source of amusement for the Haints and a few others..all I can say is that even I was traumatized by the photos that were on there!!! Daytona for me is always a special time because I get to see some very close friends and brothers that I really enjoy spending time with, this year was no exception. It's been ALOT of years since I had a tattoo machine in my hands..a memory that will never be forgotten was made on this night!!!

Well it FINALLY happened..all those years that my ex inlaws and my ex wife for that matter had said would happen did..my son Dylan turned 18! and got his first but certainly not last tattoo and I was able to do most of both of them, words can't really describe how cool that experience was..a close friend of many years, Randy Gillies, who has known my son since he was 5 was the only person Dylan wanted to tattoo him so while Randy was doing the first star ( he got 2 nautical stars on his shoulders) he calmly told me to put on a pair of gloves so that I could finish the first one and finish the second as well, he didn't have to tell me twice and judging by Dylan's reaction he was blown away that dear old Dad was actually gonna do some work on him,Randy apprenticed me for awhile about 12 years ago and dumbass me didn't stick with it (tattooing)..anyway this was one of the best nights of my life because I shared something with my son that only a few fathers can understand, I'm so proud to see him turn into the fine young man that he's become..Happy Birthday son..I LOVE YOU BIG GUY!!!!!

Well the first set of narrowed H-D triple trees that my Dad had given me were bent way out of shape for what I felt was a safe item to run so I was a little disapointed that I wasn't going to be able to run this set of trees on my Knuckle because and you will see why once the bike is done, I want to run a set of cowbells on the front end SOOOO I just turned to just the right man for this kind of job...Lil Chopper!!!!!! Purple Haze upgrade..

Details are what really catch my eye when I look at bikes so when I see something that makes sense or just plain kicks ass I try to remember it, well in this case I was really scopin out the Deadliner Pan from my brothers at Papa Clutch when I noticed that on the rear Wagner master cylinder they were using they had used a banjo bolt and fitting for a really clean look so I called up Papa Tim himself and got the lowdown, any 10 mm banjo bolt and fitting will work BUT the bolt must be shortened a small amount because the threads don't go very far in the Wagner unit so with my trusty hacksaw in hand I "whacked" off a few threads and filed down the burrs and PRESTO it worked!!! Thank God because that's the only brake I have..any questions,comments or insults can always be directed at me at anytime regarding any modifications that I attempt to perform..Roadside

Please excuse my shitty photography..this shot shows you how the line was routed closer to the frame rails and the brake pedal plate, the washers look a little big but I had to use the ones with the rubber inside of them because the regular metal ones just would not seal but the difference is not very noticeable..

The end result..a nice clean tucked away look that performs just as good as it looks, now make it happen on your shit!!!

Well I made it back to Cincinatti again this year and am I glad I did..I did and saw so much shit in a two day period that it's just a blur! In the freeze frame of my mind I remember faces,parties, laughter, stupid people stepping on my fuckin foot,multiple Irish car bomb shots, the Brodown Bash with Biltwell and Lowbrow, Nick from the Haints telling me I've got alot of cool chopper shit in FL,Shadetree Amanda shaking her ass, Kathy from N.C. telling me how much she LOVED my cologne,doing an interview for a Led Sled documentary, Sara Liberte and me asking random people silly questions on camera, multiple sightings of Paul Jr.,Nicky Bootz,Dandelion Death repeatedly singing or talking about ass fucking,killer parts for my Knucklehead from Warren Jr. delivered by Milwaukee Mike,Fab Kevin and Ms. Carla making me laugh and smile,more dresser parts than the law should allow, a trike version of Captain America, the Limpnickie booth being jam packed, Athena being beautiful as always, Rich Fulk keeping it real..CCI has no idea how lucky they are to have that brother working for them,Kari and Wendy for Detroit Rock City almost giving me pneumonia form standing outside with them during their smoke breaks, Chris Callen for just being himself, Brew Dude for trying to start a bar brawl, Guzzi Doug Wothke and Polly for just being good people in general,Maddog,Kelly, Dozer, Brandy,Pete, Flynch and the rest of the Shadetree crew for busting my balls about my attire in the new issue of CS and if I left anybody else out it's because I'm tired of fucking typing so just enjoy these pictures and cut me some fucking slack..see ya next year muthafuckas!!!!! While I was out in Sturgis this past year I walked up on a FXDX like mine that belonged to a HAMC member out of Las Vegas and I got to talking with him about the H-D Brembro setup he had on the earlier 39mm front end and he told me that they bolted right up with no mods so when I got home I hit EGay and found some takeoff calipers and after a quick trip to Pensacola H-D's take off parts bin I had a front master cylinder and a takeoff brake line that bolted on with no problems the ONLY difference in mounting these calipers is that they use 2 SHORT bolts in stead of 1 long and 1 short like the earlier 4 piston ones do..once again another modification of a stock part by people that really ride..I'm glad that some H-D parts are still as interchangeable as ever..I do have to add that every "factory" person I talked with said that it wouldn't work..go figure!!!!

You do have to use a 2008 and up master cylinder, don't ask me why but that's one point every tech I mentioned it too strongly suggested..so there you have it a "bolt on" tech tip that will give you a helluva difference in braking, trust me on this one..send me some feedback..Roadside

Before, with the timeless skulls, I love skulls but they just weren't jivin with that groovy Purple Haze vibe man..can you dig it???

For those of you who don't know, this tank was painted by my uncle in 1971 for a Knuckle chopper that him and my Dad built and has survived all these years, I'm really surprised that it wasn't repainted in a different style considering the numerous owners it went thru and the answer is no, I don't want to sell it and yes I'm keeping it exactly how it is and it's the tank I'm gonna run on this Knuckle..I can't thank a friend of ours "Easy" enough for giving me the tank because he's the guy who bought that Knuckle chop from my Dad in 71 and he managed to buy what was left of the original bike in 02 and this tank was with it, he felt that it was time to let it come home so he told me to just come get it!! This Knuckle means more to me than ANY bike I have ever built so far...

This picture speaks for itself..either you get "it" or you don't..

Your reporter was given the job of grinding off the excess and shaping it up for the tank, I'm glad my Dad let me do a little bit of work on my frame LOL!!

Well it's finally underway, a few years ago Teach gave me a few of his seat pans and told me to do something with them..fast forward to present day, I needed to come up with a seat for Purple Haze now that my Knuckle project is in full swing so I'm using one of the pans that fits the narrow profile of the bike and I'm having Dave Theobald cover it,he's the cat that does Jeff Cochran's stuff as well as Papa Clutch,check him out at Theobaldleather.com! I'm also doing some more upgrades (does it EVER end) already so stay tuned..can you say Acme Choppers narrow chrome springer???

I was at one of the water wells that I service for my citizen gig when I saw a box dropped off by the dumpster by our fence well when I went to toss some bags in I looked down and saw some albums and look what Roadside found..some true classics, they are in pretty good shape but they had gotten some overnight condensation on them so they aren't in perfect shape but I will still treasure them!!!

The fucking best one of the bunch..David Allan Coe..Rides Again!!! I have wanted one of these albums ever since I was a kid! I got to see him at a show last week and his last song was..yep you guessed it, Panheads Forever..and he sang it in it's entirety, certainly one memory that will last a lifetime!! The original bike came from New Orleans and was a Katrina survivor, a real swap meet special, nothing wrong with that at all but all we are using is the motor and tranny!

Darren liked the way the neck was windowed on my frame so it's bye bye to that plate!!

Paughco rigid frame, no rake no stretch no fatbob mounts..a perfect platform, I've used Paughco's stuff for years and I think they make damn good products..now send me some free shit!! Darren's a good guy and a great brother, I've known him for almost ten years now and I'm humbled that he wants me to help him build his dream..stay tuned as we will show more updates as we do a full mockup. A narrow Paughco springer and Paughco Mustang tank, spool 21" front wheel with upsweeps with cocktail shaker mufflers, this bike is gonna be sweet!
